Day Wise Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive Bagdogra – Transfer To Phuentsholing
Our local Sahapathika representative will meet you at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station and transport you to Phuentsholing, a truly unique destination. This town serves as the gateway for travelers entering Bhutan by road. Situated at the foothills of the Himalayas, Phuentsholing is a bustling commercial hub located at the northern edge of the Indian plains (West Bengal).
If time permits in the evening, you can visit Zangtho Pelri, a small temple in the heart of the city, depicting the celestial abode of Guru Rinpoche.
Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Phuentsholing, located at an elevation of 300 meters above sea level.

Day 3
Thimphu Sightseeing
Start your day with a visit to several key landmarks in Thimphu after breakfast. Begin at the National Library, followed by the Thimphu National Museum, the School of Arts and Crafts, the Handicrafts & Textile Museum, and the Handmade Paper Factory. Next, explore Simtokha Dzong and witness the National Flag Hoisting ceremony. A visit to Tashichho Dzong will give you a deeper insight into Bhutan’s rich history and governance.
Keep an eye out for the Memorial Chorten, a beautiful white stupa dedicated to world peace. At Buddha Point, marvel at the thousand Buddhas within the giant Buddha statue. The day continues with stops at Changlimithang Monasteries, the Takin Zoo, the BBS Tower, and finally, the Thimphu Dzong viewpoint.
Conclude the day with an overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 5
Punakha To Paro ( 115 Km, 4 Hrs)
After breakfast, journey through the untamed highlands as you make your way to the picturesque Paro Valley. Along the way, take in the fresh air and enjoy the stunning views from your window as you descend toward Paro. During the four-hour drive, pause for a break to stretch, relax, and soak in the surroundings.
Upon your arrival in Paro, treat yourself to some of Bhutan’s finest local cuisine.
You will spend the night in Paro.

Day 7
Paro – Phuentsholing ( 142km, 4hrs)
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Phuentsholing. On the way, make a short stop at Tschogang Lhakhang, known as “the shrine of the excellent horse,” located just a short drive from Paro town. This private temple, built in the 15th century, is dedicated to Balaha, the excellent horse and an incarnation of Chenrezig, the Buddha of compassion.
Arrive in Phuentsholing by late afternoon and check into your hotel. The evening is free for you to explore Phuentsholing or visit Jaigaon, located just across the Bhutan border in West Bengal.
You will spend the night in Phuentsholing.

Day 2
Phuentsholing – Thimphu(180km,)
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, with a stop at Kharbandi Gompa, a beautiful monastery established in 1967. Along the route, take a break to capture photos at Gedu University. After a brief tea stop near Chukha, continue your journey through Chimakothi, a small town nearby, and make a stop at Chuzom, where the Paro and Thimphu rivers meet.
Upon reaching Thimphu, check into your hotel. Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, serves as the country’s hub for government, religion, and commerce. It is a fascinating city that blends modern development with age-old traditions. With a population of around 100,000, it may be the only capital in the world without traffic lights.
In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the city center. Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Thimphu.

Day 4
Thimphu To Punakha Wangdue ( 75 Km, 2 Hrs)
After breakfast, embark on a scenic 2-hour drive from Thimphu to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. Along the way, stop at the breathtaking DochuLa Pass, known for its panoramic views and the 108 memorial stupas. If time allows, you can take a one-hour walk to visit the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang.
Upon reaching Punakha, explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s second-oldest and second-largest fortress. Other noteworthy sites include the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Chimi Lhakhang Monastery, and Wangdue Phodrang.
You will spend the night in Punakha.

Day 6
Paro Local Exploring
After breakfast, begin your day by visiting the Kyichu Lhakhang Monastery, also known as Lho Kichu Temple, a historically significant site dating back to the 7th century and one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Next, explore the Paro Museum to delve into Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage.
Continue your journey to the viewpoint of the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery, a must-see location. Be sure to stop by the Cafeteria along the way to enjoy some delicious desserts.
End the day with a visit to Drukgyal Dzong, a centuries-old fortress with fascinating historical significance.
You will spend the night in Paro.

Day 8
Phuentsholing – Njp/ Bagdogra Drop Time For Fresh Start ( 142km, 3hrs 30 Min)
After enjoying breakfast, check out of the hotel. Depart from Phuentsholing and head toward Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or NJP Railway Station. This marks the conclusion of your 8-day Bhutan tour for senior citizens. Take home a backpack full of cherished memories to last a lifetime.
