    ALLEPPEY – KOVALAM (170 km, 4 hrs 30 min)
After a fantastic south Indian breakfast in your houseboat this morning, get driven to Kovalam. Kovalam is a beach town on the Arabian Sea in Kerala, India, some 18 kilometres south of the city centre. It is part of the Thiruvananthapuram metropolitan area. In the native language, Kovalam refers to a coconut grove. However, in the early 1970s, Kovalam became well-known as a stopover for hippies on their route to Ceylon on the Hippie Trail. This departure marked the beginning of Kerala’s metamorphosis from a sleepy fishing village to one of the country’s most prominent tourist destinations.
Three separate beaches are formed by protruding rocky outcrops and a prominent Lighthouse, which is named after one of the beaches. Before retiring to your resort hotel with a magnificent beach view from your window, watch the sun set over the ocean and take a lengthy walk through the white sands.

    Day 8

    KOVALAM
This day is free for you to explore Kovalam at your own pace. You might want to take a leisurely stroll along its stunning beaches. Kovalam boasts a 17-kilometer coastline with three beaches separated by rocky formations, together forming the iconic crescent of Kovalam Beach. On moonlit nights, this beach paradise offers a picturesque scene with its towering rock promontory and the serene bay of blue waves.

The southernmost beach, Lighthouse Beach, is the most popular among visitors, named after the 35-meter-tall Vizhinjam Lighthouse perched on Kurumkal hill. The other two beaches are Hawah Beach, also known as Eve’s Beach, bustling with activity as fishermen set sail, and the peaceful Samudra Beach.

Kovalam is also renowned for its Ayurveda therapies, so you can indulge in a relaxing session if you wish. End the day with dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel or resort in Kovalam.
